Alphonse Joseph Beaubien, 1873 - 1947

A heart attack Thursday night resulted in the death of A.J. Beaubien, 73, a resident of this community 66 years. Mr. Beaubien had been in failing health the past two years and 10 days before his death was stricken with the "flu". He had been cared for at his home in Anthon by two sisters, Mrs. Addie Adler and Mary Beaubien.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon and burial was in Mount St. Joseph Cemetery. Rev. A. Conlon was in charge of the services.

Pallbearers were Ed Roark, Chas. Ashley, Ray Weathers, Wm. Chicoine, W.T. Davis and Bert Thompson.

Alphonse Joseph Beaubien, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Beaubien, was born at Jefferson, South Dakota, September 10, 1873. In August 1881 the family moved from Jefferson to the old Beaubien place west of Anthon. In 1904 he started farming for himself and in 1919 retired to his home in Anthon.

Surviving him are three sisters, Mrs. Addie Adler and Lena and Mary Beaubien; a niece, Aurelia Adler of Ida Grove, and two nephews, Cecil Adler of Ida Grove and Kenneth Adler of Anthon.

Preceding him were his parents, seven brothers and one sister.
