Brian David Mareau

Brian David Mareau, age 67, Edgewood, N.M. passed away on Monday, Aug. 15, 2022. Cremation has taken place with no services planned at this time.

Brian was born Sept. 17, 1954 in Sioux City to Steven "Bud" and Betty (McCord) Mareau. He grew up in Sloan, Iowa and graduated from Westwood High School in 1972. He was always good with his hands and could fix just about anything. Brian owned and operated Horizon Small Engine Repair in Edgewood, N.M. until his death. Everyone who knew Brian felt his big heart and giving nature, he never hesitated to help others. He enjoyed the simple things in life: spending time on his acreage and being part of the East Mountain community. He loved to cook and he was always available for a good chat, a little bit of teasing and a belly laugh. His cheerful disposition and likable personality made him a friend to all. His compassion also extended to animals and he rescued many dogs that were dumped near his property, along with a goat and two donkeys. His kind and generous presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Katie; son, Aaron Mareau of Canton, Ga.; daughter, Sara (Stan) Tcheshie of Fort Collins, Colo.; grandchildren Tristan (Brody), Taryn, Andon, Shayleen and Sa'Viyon; great-grandsons, Elliot and Sawyer; brother, Mike (Michele); sisters, Cheryl, Linda, Pam, Teresa (Jerry) and Polly; aunts, Helen Martin and Mary Smith; along with many nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, several aunts and uncles and his youngest sister, Rhonda, who passed away in 2011.
