23 November 1943William J. Rupert, 73, 1224 S. Paxton Street, retired railroad engineer, died Sunday night in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
Born in Hooper, Neb., November 4, 1870, Mr. Rupert came to Sioux City at the age of 18. He was employed by the Omaha railroad, and in 1913 was transferred by the railroad, to Bloomfield, Neb., where he lived 17 years. He returned to Sioux City 13 years ago.
Mr. Rupert was a member of Landmark lodge 103, A. F. and A. M.; Knights Templar, Abu-Bekr Shrine and the Trinity Lutheran church.
He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Rupert; a daughter, Mrs. Ethel R. Prescott of Mountain Home, Tenn.; three grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Ella Shippe and Mrs. Sarah Jeffers, both of Hooper, Neb.; Mrs. Minnie Moyer of San Diego, and Mrs. Eman Sanders of West Point Neb, and a brother, Julius Rupert of Norfolk, Neb.
The body was taken to the Nelson-Berger funeral home.
