Andy A. Bagley, Jr, 76 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Friday, September 30, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family. Services will be held 6:00pm Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation will be from 4:00pm until service time at the funeral home.

Andy was born February 12, 1946, in St. Louis, MO. the son of Hughes A. and Marilyn (Blattner) Bagley. On October 24, 1992, Andy married Martha McMinn. They shared their lives and business, working together building the practice at McMinn Law Office.

Andy received a BA from the University of South Dakota in 1998. He went on to attend Law School at the University of Northern Illinois and graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) in 2002. One of his proudest accomplishments was the part he played in the research and writing on United States v. Hughes Anderson Bagley, United States Supreme Court 473 U.S. 667 (1985). Throughout his career Andy did extensive research and writing for the incarcerated and others. He was a staunch supporter and advocate of the 2nd Amendment. He requested any memorials be given to the National Rifle Association.

Andy’s very tender heart was expressed in his love of his children and his dogs. His first Rottweiler (Cert) attended law school with him and was a constant companion, followed by Cody John Orr who served as the Chief Official Greeter at the law office for many years. His last Rottweiler, Justice, the son of Cody, was with him during his last days and was a source of great joy to him.

Survivors include his wife, Martha McMinn, son, Jonathan Nexxon, brothers and sisters; Herbert F. Bagley of St. Jacobs, IL., Rebecca Hatch (Charles E.) of Kennewick, WA., Melissa Bagley of Chicago, IL., Ellen Conigliaro of Long Island, NY., Heidi Trembly of Kennewick, WA., and Brett Bagley of Kansas City, MO.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, and his maternal grandparents, Heizbert F. and Myrtle (Doyle) Blattner.
