Donald L. Garner, 79 of Salix, Iowa passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022, surrounded by family and love, at his home. Honoring of his life will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 4-6pm. A time of sharing will be held 5pm, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, Iowa, 4125 Orleans Avenue.

Don was born October 29, 1942, in Walthill, Nebraska, the son of Harold and Doris (Sailors) Garner. He graduated from Riverside High School. Don worked in the meat packing industry over the years. On February 22, 1984, Don met Karlene Bumann and on October 5, 1991, they married.

Don was a man of many words. His storytelling will be remembered, cherished and passed down with much love and laughter. He enjoyed Garden Tractor pulls, Pow Wows, Kung Fu, caring for animals, his land, and spending time with family. He was deeply tied to his Native American heritage and Spirituality.

Don is survived by his wife, Karlene, son, Al Jansa, three daughters, Shelli Garner, Samara (John) Kreifels, Karlene (Sam Ford) McKinney, two brothers, Steven Garner, Bernard (Beautiful Mary) Garner, sister, Cheryl (Patrick) Boyle, 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and Penny (Fur Baby).

He is preceded in death by his parents, three sons, Shane Garner, Sean Garner, Edward Jansa, stepdad, Victor Babcock, two brothers, Gary Garner, Douglas Garner, and three sisters, Betty Garner, Connie Hamilton, and Kristie Kaye Garner.
