Harry Granzow III, 65, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022 due to complications from a stroke that first occurred in June. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Visitation will be one hour prior at the same location.

Harry Joachim Granzow III was born December 9, 1956 in Washington, DC to Harry and Hermoine Suzanne (Smith) Granzow. He loved his grandparents, particularly Grandpa Granzow and Grandpa Smith, and drew upon their wisdom throughout his entire life. He grew up in Kankakee, Illinois where he formed his longest-lasting relationships. Starting in childhood, he maintained lifelong friendships with Vince and Randy for over 50 years. He lived his life in many places namely Illinois, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Iowa. He married Lynne Bart on November 22, 1980, they celebrated 41 years of marriage. To this union 2 sons were born, Alex and Austin. They also adopted their niece Liz.

Harry was mechanically-minded and loved the sciences-particularly physics and chemistry. To children he often gifted electronic and chemistry kits. He grew up around famers and farming and his garden was a great passion through the decades that followed. His wife and children remember his as a hard-working and always on the move. He was passionate about the subjects he loved and was always learning. There was nothing that he enjoyed more than telling stories of his childhood and growing up.

He went to school at Governor’s State University and studied Library Sciences. After college, he chose a different trade to apprentice under: Watchmaking. He repaired his high-end watched such as Rolex and Patek Philippe. He had an extensive library that allowed him to fix antique watches whose parts had long been discontinued. In his free time, he often fixed clocks. He worked successfully as a watchmaker for more than thirty years. He worked locally at Gunderson’s from February 1999 until a stroke made him unable to do so any longer.

Harry is survived by his wife, Lynne; his sons Alex and Austin (Shelby); his daughter Liz; his grandchildren Melissa, Paul, Lillian, Gabe, Mady, and Luke; his sister Charlotte (Alan); his nephew Edward and niece Lydia; his Aunt Elmira; and many cousins in the Wlkey and Granzow families.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
