Mrs. Sarah Yapp Drowns Herself in a Pond Near Her Home

Mrs. Sarah Yapp, wife of Samuel Yapp, living about one and one fourth miles east of Pierson drowned herself early Monday morning in a pond near their house. She got up in the morning and started her morning work and Mr. Yapp had gone out to milk. When he came in with the milk he called to her, asking if she was ready to strain it, and receiving no reply called again and then receiving no answer searched the house for her and not finding her, and thinking it strange she should not be about the house, went out toward a pond in the pasture a few rods from the house where he discovered her in the pond in about a foot of water. When he got her out she not quite dead but died before help could be secured. It is thought she was partially demented Mr. Yapp having noticed she had acted peculiar about ten days. A letter was found that she had written stating that she had no blame for anyone for her act being responsible for it herself. She leaves a husband and four children, Mrs. Albert Leigh living in Michigan, Mrs. Geo. Creekmur living near Washta and Mrs. Emma Walters and Wm. Yapp living here. No reason are learned of any conditions existing that might induce her to commit her rash act.
