Kate Coggan Warburton, 1892 - 1952

Kate Coggan Warburton, daughter of Martha and John Coggan, was born March 4, 1892, at Compton Dundon, England. Her early life was spent in England where she was baptized and united with the Methodist Church.

On September 4, 1913, she married William Warburton. To them were born eight children. In November 1920 the family moved to America and settled at Washta. Succeeding residences found them in Kingsley, again in Washta, and then in Pierson where they moved in 1924.

She and her husband united with the Pierson Methodist Church on May 15, 1952.

After an extended recurring illness she passed away at her home on September 13, 1952, at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 9 days.

Funeral services were held in the Pierson Methodist Church with Rev. Max E. Goldman officiating. Burial followed in Good Hope Cemetery under direction of Dickison Funeral Home of Kingsley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Joyce Kathleen in December 1930, and one granddaughter, Joyce Link in 1950.

Survivors include two sisters, Alice in Australia, Nillie in England, three brothers, Arthur, Frank and Ralph Coggon, all of England, her husband of Pierson, seven children, Irene Egdorf of Sioux City, Margaret Link of Primghar, Viola Byers of Primghar, Wilma Peterson of Council Bluffs, Harold and Stanley Warburton of Everly, and Percy of Hastings, Nebraska; fourteen grandchildren, and a cousin, Mrs. Bessie Monckton of Pierson.
