Carl Fritz Roggatz passed away June 28, 1978, at a Sioux City hospital after a heart attack at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 7 days.

He was born on a farm in Morgan Township, Danbury, Iowa, April 1, 1906, the son of Fritz and Bertha Roggatz. The family later moved to the Correctionville area where he remained until the time of his death. On March 22, 1933, he was united in marriage to Ellen Jeffrey at Elk Point, South Dakota. Four children were born to this union.

During his life he farmed until his retirement in 1969. He was a founding member of Grace Lutheran Church at Correctionville, being instrumental in relocation of the building to the present location and serving on the church board in various offices. He was past director of Kedron #2 school board and served as president of the Kedron district until the consolidation of Eastwood School.

Survivors include the widow, four sons, Wayne and Alvin both of Anthon, Donald and Ronald, both of Correctionville, a brother Walter of Montevideo, Minnesota, five sisters, Mrs. Annie Sands of Holstein, Mrs. Elmer (Tillie) Sands, Mrs. Milton (Alvena) Cochran and Mrs. Edna Wright, all of Correctionville, and Mrs. Walter (Martha) Handke of Dunlap, and nine grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, one brother and an infant grandson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 1, 1978, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Correctionville with Pastor Weinhold officiating.

Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery under direction of Barker Funeral Home.
