ACCIDENTAL SHOT FATAL
HENRY HUSS, DANBURY FARMER, IS KILLED BY WIFE.
BROTHER OF VICTIM PRESENT

According' to Story Told Deputy Coroner, Woman Jokes with Husband About Shooting Him, and Then Pulls Trigger of Gun.

Peculiar circumstances surround the fatal shooting of William Huss, 24 years old, a farmer living three miles northwest of Danbury, Ia., Friday morning. Huss was killed by the charge from a 12-gauge single barreled shotgun in the hands of his wife. J. W. Collins, of Danbury, deputy coroner, investigated the death and declared it accidental. Henry Huss, 20 years old, a brother, was the only witness.

According to the story told Collins by Mrs. Huss, and corroborated by her brother-in-law, she was under the impression that the gun was empty when she pointed it at her husband and pulled the trigger. The younger Huss had been hunting on Thursday and removed the charge from the gun when he entered the house that evening. Both Mrs. Huss and the young man denied having reloaded the weapon and asserted that they were unaware that anyone had done so.

Death Came Instantly.

While the couple were being seated at the breakfast table, Mrs. Huss turned to her husband and in a joking way said:

"I'm going to shoot you.”

All right, go ahead her husband said.

Arising from the table Mrs. Huss went to an outer room where the gun was kept. She brought it back with her.

"Is it loaded?" Mrs. Huss asked.

"Yes," replied her husband.

He had scarcely answered her when Mrs. Huss quickly pulled the trigger. The charge entered Huss neck, killing him Instantly.

Mr. Collins and C. W. Johnson, deputy sheriff, were notified, and after sending word to Coroner Elmer Blood went to the farm and investigated the shooting. Both men stated that their reports of the affair would be that the shooting was accidental. No inquest will be held, it was stated.

No Trouble Between Couple.

Henry Huss told the coroner that he had been living at the home of his brother for the past six weeks. During that time there had been no trouble between the couple, he stated. He said both were laughing and joking yesterday morning while breakfast was being prepared.

The Husses had been married for nearly five years. For the last two years they have been occupying a quarter section of the J. F. Mohr farm, near Danbury. Two sons, one 3 years old and the other 18 months old, have been born to the couple.

Previous to her marriage Mrs. Huss was Miss Nora Clausen. Her parents live on a farm near Holstein. Huss also formerly lived near Holstein.
