The funeral of Mrs. T. J. Coon who died in Reece, Kansas., last week was held in Bethel church, last Thursday and was very largely attended, she having had a host of friends hereabouts.

The services were conducted by Rev W. J. Todd of the Methodist Episcopal church of this place.

Minerva Jane Carter was born in Newton, Ohio, February 20, 1847. She married T.J. Coon in Spring Green, Wisconsin, July 2, 1861, and to them twelve children were born, eight boys and four girls. Five of the boys preceded their mother to the grave. The three remaining sons reside at the family home in Reece, Kansas. The daughters are Mrs. Jenny Gentry of Coffeeville, Kansas, Mrs. Thomas Cook and Mrs. Kate Dutton of Sac City and Mrs. W.D. Clark of Ida Grove.

Mrs. T.J. Coon died at her home in Reece, Kansas, Sunday, May 16, 1909, following an attack of pneumonia. The remains were brought here for burial.

Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Coon, the former a brother of Isaac N. Coon of this place, moved to Kansas from Rock Township three years ago. They lived in this vicinity many years.

Deceased was about 60 years old and leaves besides her husband, four daughters and three sons, the latter two unmarried. When Mrs. Thomas Coon died last August, Mrs. T.J. Coon invited the bereaved husband, her son and his two children to make their home with her, and these little ones once again find themselves without a mother's care and guidance.
