Lois Kay Wente passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 6, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family.

Services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, May 23, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Ponca, Neb.

Lois grew up in Sheldon, Iowa, the daughter of George and Margaret Harnack. She graduated from St Joseph School of Nursing and spent 50 years working as an emergency room nurse at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Lois was always up for a game and a laugh, well-dressed and ready to walk out the door on her next adventure. She was a role model for her children and cherished her role as a grandmother to her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She will be loved and missed forever.

Lois was married to Bill Wente for 53 years and raised her four children in Ponca and Sioux City.

She is survived by her children Daniel Wente, James (Mary Kay) Wente, Therese (David) Carpenter, and Beth (Sheffield) Clarke; grandchildren Hannah (Justin) Peet, Samuel Wente, Ella Wente, Nicholas (fiancée Chloe) Clarke, and Brooke Clarke; great-grandchildren Hadley, Lettie, and Wesley Peet; brother and sister-in-law Wayne (Jeanine) Harnack; in-laws Ron Ellis, Harold (Betty) Wente, Robert (Ann) Wente, Carol Hassenger, and Jeannie Norfolk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; parents; and sisters Fern Ellis and Happy Beckman.
