Charles Montross, 81 of Sioux City, died Thursday, April 7, 2022.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday April 13, 2022 at Waterbury Funeral Home, Morningside location. Visitation 4-7 pm with the family present 5-7 pm. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy.

Charles was born on August 8 1940 in Sioux City, the son of Roy and Mildred (Novotny) Montross. He graduated from Central High School in 1958. He attended Wayne State College and then joined the US Navy. After his tour in the Navy he attended University of Nebraska in Omaha receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1967. He then attended the University of South Dakota receiving his Masters degree in 1970 and continued taking classes towards his Doctorate.

Charles taught at Hayworth Junior High from 1967 to 1975. Charles then started a career in Real Estate and earned his GRI designation in 1977. He attended Western Iowa Tech in the Semi Truck driving program graduating in 1980.

Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. He was a life member of the National Education Association and had teaching certificates from both Iowa and Nebraska.

Charles is survived by his wife Pat, sons Steven and Bruce Montross, daughter Elizabeth, several grandchildren, brothers Gary, Don and sister Judy Conlon.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
