PIERSON, Iowa -- Carl H.H. Rischen, 84, of Pierson died Wednesday, July 24, 1991, at his home of a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pierson United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Battern officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Pierson. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present from 7-8 p.m., at Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mr. Rischen was born Nov. 30, 1906, in Pierson, the son of Carl F. and Wilhemina (Rock) Rischen. He graduated from Pierson High School and attended Iowa State College. He married Thelma Gray June 17, 1936. in Fort Dodge. He was a bulk plant operator for Standard Oil Co. for 29 years, retiring in 1967.

Mr. Rischen served on the Pierson Town Council and Pierson Fire Department. He was secretary for the Pierson Consolidated School and Kingsley-Pierson Schools for 32 years. He was a 50-year member and Past Master of Rutland Lodge 607 AF&AM of Pierson. He was a member of the Pierson United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Suzanne and her husband, John Schmidt of St. Louis, Mo., and Jane Sheridan of Livermore, Calif.; a son, Carl G. "Chip" Rischen of Salt Lake City, Utah; five grandchildren, Kursten and Justen Sheridan and John, Mike and Kim Schmidt and two sisters, Minnie Harm of Pierson and Anne Bauer and her husband, Verne of San Bruno, Calif.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Herman.

Memorials have been established in his name with Hospice and Pierson United Methodist Church.
