Tracy A. Best, 52, of Hinton passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at her home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Holy Cross Parish-St. Michael Church (2223 Indian Hills Dr.) in Sioux City. Burial with full military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Tracy was born May 8, 1968, in Storm Lake, Iowa. In her early years, her family lived in Storm Lake then moved to Washington D.C. and later Sioux City. She attended St. Mike's School in Sioux City and graduated from Heelan High School.

After high school, she joined the United States Air Force. Tracy served in Munitions with the 185th in Sioux City then transitioned as a nurse to the Reserves at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha until her retirement. Tracy received her nursing diploma from Briar Cliff College and she worked as an ER nurse at Marion Health later MercyOne in Sioux City. In addition, she assisted on Mercy's flight crew and was a nursing instructor at Western Iowa Tech.

Tracy met her future husband, Don Best, while she was working at the Dairy Queen in Leeds. They were married on her 24th birthday, May 8, 1992, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. This union was blessed with four children. The family made their home in Sioux City until 2012 when they moved to Tracy's dream home in Hinton.

Tracy's children were her pride and joy. She enjoyed taking them on day trips and running them to all of their sporting events. In earlier years, Tracy enjoyed bowling, golfing, and playing softball with Don. They also loved the outdoors which included several camping and fishing trips. Tracy was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Tracy is survived by her husband, Don Best of Hinton; one son, Cole Best of Hinton; three daughters Sophia Best (fiancé Tylor Price) of Chandler, Ariz., Sylvia Best of Sioux City, and Chloe Best of Hinton; mother, Patricia (Jack) Turner of Miners Bend, S.D.; father, Dewey (Patricia) Winkler of Georgia; three siblings Lisa Gunderson of Dakota Dunes, Barbara Silin of Overland Park, Kan., and Theodore Boudreau Jr. (fiancé Hannah) of Kansas City, Mo.; mother-in-law, Barbara Best of Sioux City; four brothers- and two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; and father-in-law, Jim Best.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Tracy Best Memorial Fund to be designated by her family.
