Gloria R. Drop, 92, died Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Westwood Specialty Care in Sioux City.

A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Larkin Chapel, 2320 Outer Drive North, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Holy Cross Parish-St. Michael Catholic Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Gloria Ruth Brown, the daughter of George Sr. and Ethel (Crow) Brown was born Oct. 3, 1928, in Van Wert, Ohio.

On March 13, 1948, Gloria was united in marriage with Joseph J. Drop in Cleveland, Ohio. Gloria was a homemaker, and the family lived in Ohio, Texas, and New York before moving to Sioux City in 1964. Joseph died May 2, 2009.

Gloria was a member of St. Michael Church, the Altar Society, and the church Bridge Club. She also volunteered at Holy Spirit Retirement Community, the Carmelite Monastery, and St. Joseph Hospital in the Blue Daisy Gift Shop. She also worked at Kathy's Balloon Shop and Bloom's Flower Shop. Gloria was active with the Cub Scouts and the Girl Scouts when her children and grandchildren were involved. She was known for her bright smile and enjoyed traveling the globe with her husband.

Gloria is survived by two sons, David (Becky) Drop of New Castle, Colo., and Timothy (Norma) Drop of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Cassandra (Harold) Saul of Sioux City, and Melinda (James) Fredericks of Columbus, Mont.; a daughter-in-law, Ann Drop of Iowa City, Iowa; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Mark (Bridget) Brown of Tellico Plains, Tenn., Rebecca Guthrie of Cleveland; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Christopher Drop; and two brothers, George "Don" Brown II and Carl Brown.

The family has requested that memorials be directed to St. Michael Catholic Church or the Carmelite Monastery.
