2 Survivors of Crash Still Hospitalized

Douglas Cooper, 27, rural Salix, remained in "serious” condition Monday from injuries suffered in a car-freight train collision at the north edge of Luton Saturday night. The accident claimed the lives of two Woodbury County residents.

Mr. Cooper suffered fractures, pelvic and internal injuries. His 4-year-old son, Douglas Troy Cooper, suffered a skull fracture and fractured pelvis. He was termed in "fair" condition Monday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.

Dead on arrival at a Sioux City hospital were Raymond Cooper, 62, rural Salix, and Miss Marilyn Lamoureux, 19, rural Sergeant Bluff. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milford Lamoureux of rural Sergeant Bluff.

Cooper Rites Set

Funeral services for Mr. Cooper will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside. The Rev. Raymond Bailey of the Sergeant Bluff Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Branch Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Carrol, James, Wayne, Willard, Warren and Vernon Cooper.

Mr. Cooper was born Feb. 4, 1904, at Tama, Iowa. He married Dora V. McKee in 1937 in Sioux City. She died in 1950. He farmed near Anthon and Oto before moving to the Luton community 16 years ago.

He married Darlene Paulson on June 11, 1957 at Stanton, Nebr.

Survivors include the widow, three sons Douglas of Salix, Danny and Lonnie, both at home; two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Brockman of Battle Creek, Ia. and Ellen, at home; three brothers, Jessie of Salix, Dan of Moville, and Burt of Laurel, Neb.; a sister, Mrs. Theresa Jeffrey of Norfolk, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services for Miss Lamoureaux will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix with Rev. Norbert Boes officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Perasso Bros. Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Richard Worrell, Archie Worrell Jr., Del LaCroix, Tom Dik, Patrick Lamoreaux, and Frankie Fulton Jr.

Miss Lamoureux was born Sept. 17, 1946, at Sergeant Bluff. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School at Salix and Westwood High School at Sloan. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Besides her parents. Miss Lamoureux survivors include five brothers, Larry and Robert at home, Edward of Salix, Raymond of Sioux City and Lowell of Santa Barbara, Calif., and two sisters, Mary Lee, at home and Mrs. Sam McLarty of Sergeant Bluff.
