LUTON, Iowa - Emory P. Cooper, 72, of Luton died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 in an Onawa, Iowa hospital following a short illness.

The body was cremated and there will be no services. There will be a private burial in Rock Branch Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Emory was born Jan. 6, 1931 in rural Moville, Iowa, the son of Fred and Violet (McKee) Cooper. He attended Moville and Branson Schools.

He married Norma Kinamon on Oct. 4, 1947 in Sioux City. Emory worked various jobs, retiring from Laborers Union 427. Emory enjoyed traveling, gardening, flowers and spending time with his family. He was an excellent mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; two sons, Leo and his wife, Barbara Cooper, of Luton and Steve and his wife, Linda Cooper, of Sioux City; a daughter, Sandra Kay Lau and her son, Tyler, of Luton, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Ted Cooper.
