Wilberta I. Lange, 86, of Sioux City and formerly of Emerson passed away on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, surrounded by her family at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Emerson; Pastor Charlotte Eversoll will be officiating. The visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery of Emerson at a later date. Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Emerson is in charge of the arrangements.

Wilberta was born on Jan. 11, 1935, on her parents farm north of Emerson, the daughter of John and Mary (Johanson) Voss. In 1952, she graduated from Emerson High School. On Nov. 4, 1953, Wilberta was united in marriage to David Lange at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Emerson. To this union two children were born: Steve and Julie. The couple started their life together farming east of Emerson. They later purchased the pool hall in Emerson and later built the Little Dipper, an ice cream shop. In 1969, they returned to farming east of Emerson, and in 2015, Wilberta and Dave moved to Sioux City to be closer to family. Wilberta was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing, and was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, member of the LCW and the Altar Guild. Wilberta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, David Lange of Sioux City; son, Steve (Erin) Lange of Sioux City; daughter, Julie (Mike) Sexton of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Tanner) Mackey, Hayley (Sam) Huska, Whitney Lange, Jonathan Sexton, Jennifer (Dave) Schott, and Jessica Vern Maxwell; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Wilberta was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Voss.

Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
