Daniel F. Buss, 43, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 30, 1994, at his residence of an apparent heart attack.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Calvary Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gerald Kapanka officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Following services, the body will be cremated. Nelson-Berger Northside is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Buss was born Jan. 1,1951 in Hull, Iowa, the son of Fred and Lorna Buss. He moved to Sioux City with his family at age 3. He graduated from Leeds High School in 1969 where he lettered all four years in basketball, football and track. He was the Hi-Y Vice President, All City Conference, Most Valuable Player Third Team All-Northwest Iowa, and Honorable Mention-All-State. He was also named the Sioux City Journal Athlete of the Year in 1969. He graduated from Morningside College in 1974 where he was an All-Conference football player. Following college, he went to spring training camp with the Oakland Raiders in the Fall of 1974 and played in four exhibition games.

Mr. Buss was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his mother; a daughter, Dawn Scott of Sioux City; a brother, Michael of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Betsy Buss, Mary Carroll and Marjean Altemeier, all of Minneapolis, Minn.; and five nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.
