Jo Anne Sparr, 81, of Moville passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at her home in Moville. Services will be 10:30 Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. Visitation will be 5:30 to 8:00 Wednesday, September 29, 2021 with a prayer service at 7:00 at the church. Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jo Anne was born October 16, 1939 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Mary (Hungerford) Sweem. She attended school throughout the Siouxland area, graduating from South Sioux City, Nebraska High School in 1958. Jo Anne married William ‘Bill’ Sparr June 1, 1958 in South Sioux City. Together they made their home in Moville and have been there ever since. Jo worked at various jobs over the years. She owned and operated Jo’s Chuckwagon Café and worked at Theo’s Steak House for several years, sang in a Country Western Band, ‘The Full Tones’, and was a foster parent for 23 years.

Jo was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. She loved spending time with the family. Jo and Bill enjoyed riding and driving horses with saddle clubs in the area and spent many summers racing Chuckwagons.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Sparr of Moville; four children, William D. (Jani) Sparr of Anthon, Jodi (Jon) Kleemeier of Rockwell City, Iowa, Michelle (Jeff) Polkinghorn of Moville, and Michael (Kimberly) Sparr of Remsen, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchilodren; and 56 foster children.

She is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Francis Ensminger, Barbara McLarty and Judy Turner; and a son-in-law, Roger Corbin.
