CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa - R. Laurence Baker, 91, of Correctionville, died Tuesday in a Sioux City hospital of long illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Rock Branch United Methodist Church. The Rev. Edward Schaller will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairfield Cemetery at Rock Branch. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the Walter Funeral Home at Anthon.

Mr. Baker was born Dec. 28, 1888, near Anthon. He farmed in the Anthon, Rock Branch and Correctionville communities.

He married Clara Menker Sept. 23, 1914. They lived near Anthon until 1920 when they moved to a farm at Conova, S.D. In 1932, they moved to a farm near Rock Branch. Mrs. Baker died July 23, 1960. He married Cecile Parker Oct. 5, 1963, at Elk Point, S.D. She died May 3, 1977. He had been living at the Correctionville Nursing Home for the last 2 years.

He was a member of Rock Branch United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Leland (Joy) Mattson of Alta and Mrs. Lewis (Margaret) Gernhart of Kingsley; five sons, Riefel of Sioux City, Raymond of Long Beach, Calif., Howard and Eugene, both of Correctionville and Gilbert of Dumont; one stepson, Wallace Parker of Anthon; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Bill (Wilma) Robeson of Cherokee and Mrs. Richard (Betty) Pedersen of Missoula, Mont.; one sister, Mrs. John (Amy) McFarland of Millbank, S.D.; 25 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; 12 step grandchildren and 13 step great-grandchildren.
