DEATH OF A PIONEER

Mrs. M. C. Haviland Passes Away at Home at Salix.

Salix, Ia. Feb. 21.- Special: Mrs. M. C. Haviland, one of the pioneer settlers of Woodbury County, passed away at 6 o'clock this morning, dropsy being the cause of her death. She had been a sufferer for some time.

The surviving children are H. W. Haviland. of Salix; Mrs. M. H. Lilly, of Fort Pierre, S. D.; Mrs. Charles S. Murphy, of Sergeant Bluffs. Mr. Haviland died some years ago. Mrs. Haviland was born January 14, 1847, at Salem. N. Y. The funeral will be held Sunday at 1 p. m. Interment will be in Walnut cemetery at Salix.
