HORNICK, Iowa - Mrs. Walter Steele, 70, of Hornick, died Aug. 8 at her home of sudden illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 11 in the Hornick United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dale Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Willow Township Cemetery at Holly Springs under the direction of the Wood Funeral Home at Whiting.

Mrs. Steele, Cecil Pearle Madden, was born Jan. 3, 1905, at Hornick. She lived in the area all her life. She was married Jan. 12, 1921, at Dakota City, Neb. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Methodist women, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Hornick Library Association.

Survivors include her widower; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Shaffer of Bloomington, Ill., Mrs. Wayne (Mary) Smith of Hornick, Mrs. Jack (Gloria) Steinhoff of Smithland and Mrs. Darrell (Jeanie) Henry of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Daryl (Juanita) James of Lombard, Ill. and Eileen Madden of Hornick; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
