MRS. HARLEY PAYNE, 46

Funeral services were held in Mapleton at St. Johns Methodist church on Wednesday for Mrs. Harley Payne who passed away March 10 after an extended Illness. Rev George Osborn officiated at the funeral services.

Violet VanCleve Payne was born August 24, 1904, the daughter of Joseph and Nellie VanCleve at Sloan, Iowa. She was married to Clarence Burkhart who died in September of 1929, and was married to Harley Payne in February of 1932, who is one of the survivors.

Until 1938, the Paynes lived at Castana when they moved to the Mapleton community.

Other survivors include Clarence and Francis Burkhart, both of Mapleton, and Mrs. Betty Jacoby of Danbury, children by the first marriage, Dean Payne of Mapleton and Mrs. Twila Oregon of Sioux City children by the second marriage.

Mrs. Payne is also survived by one brother, Victor VanCleve, Hornick, and five sisters, Mrs. Edna Metcalf, Hornick, Mrs. Alice Green, Riverdale. North Dakota, Mrs. Dorothy Davis, Anthon, Mrs. Margaret Blackwell, Ashton, Oregon, and Mrs. Phyllis Napier, Bell Garden. California,

Burial was in Willow Cemetery at Holly Springs. Funeral and burial were conducted by the Byers-Walter Funeral Home.
