Kathryn M. “Casey” Krueger, age 65, of Danbury, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at her residence of Danbury, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 22, 2021, at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa. Mr. Kirk Manchester will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Liston Township Cemetery of Danbury, Iowa. A Visitation will be held on hour prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, masks are encouraged and social distancing rules apply. The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Condolences may be sent online www.armstrongfuneral.com.

Kathryn Mae “Casey” Krueger, the daughter of William and Marie (Weifenbach) Burke, was born on February 21, 1956, in Ida Grove, Iowa. She grew up in Danbury, Iowa and attended school in the Maple Valley School District.

On June 15, 1991, Kathryn married Randy D. Krueger in Danbury, Iowa and Randy welcomed Kathryn’s son Kevin. You may remember Casey from the good old days at Dean’s Den or Reeds Lounge where she cooked and tended bar. She was also the bakery manager at the IGA in Mapleton before starting her home daycare which she owned and operated from 1991 to present.

Casey enjoyed camping, Bingo, cooking and baking, and bowling in her youth. She also liked watching “In the Kitchen with David” on QVC. An accomplished cook, Casey loved cooking for her family for the holidays. She always looked forward to spending time with family and friends, whether it was a family meal or sitting outside her apartment on a warm night visiting with her dear friend Janet Pithan.

For the last 27 years, Casey provided daycare for the local children in Danbury. She adored the children she watched and helped raise. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Left to treasure her memory are her son Kevin (Angie Strom) Prell of Danbury, IA; grandchildren: Kalvin, Kyler, Kameron, Conner and Emily; sisters Mary (Ken) Mitchell of Arizona and Pat (Doug) Jensen of Colorado; brother-in-law Don Davis of Ida Grove, IA; dear friend Janet Pithan of Danbury, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Marie Burke; husband Randy D. Krueger; son Kalvin William Prell; and sister Betty Davis.
