Lorraine Bottjen, age 95, of Anthon, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021, at the Correctionville Specialty Care of Correctionville, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church-Midway of rural Battle Creek, Iowa. Rev. Marty Davis will officiate. Committal services will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery-Midway of rural Battle Creek, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2021, at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Anthon, Iowa.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks are encouraged and social distancing rules apply during all services. The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Anthon, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Condolences may be sent online www.armstrongfuneral.com.

Lorraine Bottjen, the daughter of Harley and Lila (Shever) Lewis, was born on December 20, 1925, in Correctionville, Iowa. She received her education at Correctionville High School graduating with the class of 1942.

On July 28, 1943, Lorraine was united in marriage to Virgil Bottjen in Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with three children: Sandy, Madonna, and Mike. The family made their home in the Cushing and Anthon, Iowa, areas. Lorraine enjoyed being a homemaker, helping on the farm, and raising her children. Upon their retirement, Lorraine and Virgil moved into the town of Anthon and she worked at the Anthon-Oto Schools as a cook for 15 years.

Lorraine was a senior citizen companion and helped at the senior citizens meal site. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and was an active member of the Ladies Aide at Midway Church having held all of the offices. Lorraine enjoyed spending time outside tending to her flowers and her garden as well as playing cards, especially Euchre and 500. She treasured spending time with her family and planning for their family get togethers. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory include her children Sandy (Al) Schreiber of Ida Grove, IA; Madonna (Terry) Moss of Mesa, AZ and Mike (Glenda) Bottjen of Primghar, IA; 9 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; 2 step-grandsons and 4 step-great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harley and Lila Lewis; her husband Virgil Bottjen; brothers Everett and Don Lewis; grandson-in-law Todd Clausen; and Tammi Bottjen.
