Jay Jones, 81, of Hornick, died early Thursday evening in a Sioux City nursing home after a long illness.

Mr. Jones was born Sept. 6, 1885 in Hornick. He married Nellie M. Nicholas, March 3, 1909 in Hornick. He lived on the family farm until he retired and moved to Hornick in 1946. He was a member of the Hornick Methodist Church, Smithland Masonic Lodge and Hornick Odd Fellows.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Victor T. of Lawton; Cecil E. of Sioux City and Orlie J. of Hornick; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Melody of Rockwell City, Iowa; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The body was taken to the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside.
