John N. Frerichs, 88, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1996, at his residence.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Morningside Reformed Church, with the Dr. Louis E. Lotz officiating. Burial will be in Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Frerichs was born Jan. 25, 1908, near Buffalo Center, the son of Nannen and Johanna (Onnen) Frerichs. He married Stella Jurgens on June 1, 1936, in Buffalo Center. He farmed for several years before becoming a technical aid with the Winnebago Soil Conservation Service.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center, where he served as an elder, deacon, and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Morningside Reformed Church in Sioux City.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Jurlaine and Dick Thomas of Rockwell, Iowa and Janice and Paul Schneider of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Terry, Scott, Randy, Amy Jo, and David Thomas, Ryan Schneider, Lora Ann Davis, and Sherri Kae Jones; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
