Alfred J. Howard, aged 83, of Sioux City, told friends that he had lived long enough, then shot himself through the forehead.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born in 1833 and died Sept. 11, 1916. He is buried in the Floyd Cemetery.
