Sioux City -- Samuel “Sam” A. Morgan, 88, of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020.

Private services will be held at Holy Cross Parish, St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Samuel “Sam,” the son of Charles and Helen (Hobelenrich) Morgan, was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Sioux City. Sam grew up in Sioux City and graduated from Heelan High School. After high school, he worked at Armour and Company for 25 years then worked in maintenance at I.P.S. until his retirement.

On June 2, 1956, Sam was united in marriage to Mary McCarthy, and this union was blessed with five children. Mary passed away on July 26, 2015.

Sam loved the outdoors and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. In addition, he enjoyed watching Westerns and was an avid Notre Dame Football fan. Sam was a member of Holy Cross Parish, St. Michael Catholic Church.

He is survived by his children, Bill (Julie) Morgan, Jim Morgan, Rose (Doug) Griffith, Mike (special friend Lori Nelson) Morgan, and Paul (Lori) Morgan; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Katie, Joe, Scott, Eric, Ashley, Kayley, and Kyle; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Meier; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; and five siblings, Ray, Jim, Ruth, Addie, and Al; and seven half-siblings.
