Annabelle Clift Forney

HORNICK, Iowa - Annabelle Clift Forney, 98, of Hornick, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 1989, at the Whiting nursing home following a long illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Holly Springs with the Rev. Gary W. DeGeest officiating. Burial will be in the Willow Township Cemetery at rural Holly Springs. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Wood Funeral Home in Sloan.

Mrs. Forney, the former Annabelle Clift, was born Aug. 26, 1891, at rural Holly Springs. She married Orval D. Forney Feb. 19, 1914, in Sioux City. The couple farmed at Holly Springs before moving to Hartington, Neb., where they resided from 1938-46. They moved back to Hornick in 1947. Mr. Forney died June 13, 1971, in Sioux City. Mrs. Forney had been a resident of the nursing home in Whiting since 1984.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Ladies' Aid, both at Holly Springs, the Library Club and the Senior Citizens of Hornick.

Survivors include three daughters; Mrs. Frances Madison of Burney, Calif.; and Mrs. Clarence (Mary Alice) Hansen and Mrs. Norma (Jean) Griggs, both of Petaluma, Calif.; four sons, Bernard of Sioux City, Don of Hornick, Ardell "Buster" of Petaluma, and David of Westminster, Colo.; 31 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
