Louie Burkhart, 89, Countryside Retirement Home, died Thursday in a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Billy Sunday Tabernacle. Dr. Wesley Hansen will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery in Holly Springs, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today in the Christy Morningside Funeral Home.

Mr. Burkhart was born Feb. 23, 1895, in Hornick, Iowa. He married Edna Hurd Dec. 18, 1916, in Sioux City. They lived in the Hornick and Holly Springs area before moving to Sioux City in 1955.

He was a farmer and truck driver and worked at the Methodist Hospital from 1955 to 1965.

He was a member of the Billy Sunday Tabernacle and the Senior Citizens Club in Morningside.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Vernon of Smithland, Iowa; two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Joan) Jones of Aurora, Colo., and Mrs. Virgil (Jackie) Pulleh of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Emma) Holmstrum of Fairbury, Neb.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
