Everett Wesley Persinger 1894 - 1969

Everett Wesley Persinger, 74, 6120 Morningside Ave., died Thursday morning in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the German City United Church of Christ near Holly Springs, with the Rev. Martin N. Knudson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of the William Funeral Home, Rodney, Iowa.

Mr. Persinger was born May 29, 1894, near Hornick. He served in World War I. He married the former Gertrude Weber Jan. 1, 1920, in Hornick. They lived on a farm near Smithland until 1963, when they moved into Smithland.

Mrs. Persinger died July 29, 1965, and Mr. Persinger moved to Sioux City in 1966.

Mr. Persinger was a member of German City United Church of Christ, a past master of Amicable Lodge 289, AF&AM of Smithland, and a 50-year member of Leslie F. Seaton post 666 of Smithland.

Survivors include four sons, Ardell of Whiting, Iowa, Ival of Plymouth, Ind., Gilbert of Smithland, and Richard of Brookfield, Wis.; two daughters, Mrs. John Schneider, Denison, Iowa, and Mrs. Bruce Wightman, White Bear, Minn.; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Weber, Sioux City, and Mrs. Myrtle Towne, Sergeant Bluff; one brother, Arlo, Yankton, S.D.; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
