Edith E. Helmich, 79, of Sioux City died Friday, Dec. 20, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdav at the Concordia Lutheran Church, with the Rev. S. M. Smallwood officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Helmich was born July 1, 1917, in Wayne, Neb. She attended schools in Wayne. She married Harry G. Stolle on March 2, 1936 in Wayne. He died September 1962. She later married Harry Helmich in February 1967. She moved to Sioux City in 1950. She was employed with JC Penney for 29 years.

She was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church, the Women's Society, the Esther Circle, and taught Sunday School.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Harold of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Darlene and Harold Luebken of Davenport, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother.

Pallbearers will be Martin Stolle, Lee, Tony, and Wade Luebken, Kurt Klemme, and Frank William "Billie" Jacobs.

Memorials may be given to Concordia Lutheran Church.
