BATTLE CREEK, Iowa - (Died Sioux City)
Elvin "Milt" Mildenstein, 70, of Battle Creek died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, with the Rev. Andrew Currao officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon Friday at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Battle Creek.
Mr. Mildenstein was born May 21, 1926, in Ida County, Iowa, the son of Nicholas and Annie (Schuett) Mildenstein. He married Arlene R. Libke on Feb. 28, 1949, in Holstein, Iowa. For many years, he worked for the Mildenstein Fertilizer Company and owned and operated a gravel truck in the Battle Creek area. He later worked for Ida County Road Department before retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the St John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Ron and Vicki of Iowa City, Iowa; a daughter, Karen Bliss of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three grandchildren, Ryan and Jeffrey Bliss and Sara Jane Mildenstein; a sister and her husband, Lorraine and Chris Christensen of Ida Grove; and a brother and his wife, Merlin and Beverly of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Frieda Hamann.
