Sioux City

Patrick “Pat” Feathers, 85, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020, with family by his side.

Private family services were held at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Pat was born on Dec. 21, 1934, in Beresford, S.D., the son of Lynn Dodge and Ellen Theresa (O’Connor) Feathers. Pat grew up in Beresford and graduated from Beresford High School.

He attended the University of South Dakota (USD) for two years before proudly serving four years in the United States Air Force, conducting aerial mapping via helicopter in Cambodia and Vietnam.

After his honorable discharge, he returned to USD and graduated in 1961 with a degree in Industrial Engineering.

On June 24, 1961, Pat was united in marriage to Susan “Susie” Condon at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The couple had three children and made their home in Sioux City, where Pat was an owner and manager of Condon Motor Company for many years.

Pat was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and particularly, his fly-in fishing trips to Canada’s remote northern territories.

He was a competitive trap shooter with many league victories and awards to his credit.

Pat greatly enjoyed playing and watching golf, and he was a lifelong football fan supporting the University of Nebraska and USD. For many years Pat served as the radio broadcast color commentator covering football games for the Heelan High School Crusaders alongside Rudy Salem calling the play-by-play.

Above all, family was very important to Pat. He dearly loved his wife, Susie, his kids and his dogs.

Pat was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Susie of Sioux City; three children, Tim (Kim) Feathers of Overland Park, Kan., Mike (Tracy) Feathers of Hinton, Iowa, and Betsy (John) Campo of Gainesville, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Spencer Aspleaf, Anthony Campo, Austin Feathers, Olivia Feathers, Carter Feathers, Chris Campo, David Campo and Lauren Campo; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Saxe of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Estella Slattery; and brother, Leonard Feathers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Crittenton Center.
