Robert Charles "Bob" Eberhard was born in Sioux City on Feb. 19, 1921, to Meta Amelia (Pickron) and Charles David Eberhard. He attended Liberty School near Merrill, Iowa and realized from an early age on, that farming was going to be his future occupation. At the age of 16, he began farming with Delbert and Clara Raby, his sister and brother-in-law.

On March 30, 1945, he entered into active duty with the U.S. Army and served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theater in Hawaii and on Canton Island. After faithfully completing his military duties, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on Nov. 13, 1946. He returned to Moville, Iowa.

On March 8, 1947, in Walthill, Neb., he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Stewart. They became the proud parents of Connie Jean, Ruth Coreen and Gayle Eileen. The couple farmed the land that they lived on west of Kingsley for more than 60 years. They were devoted to raising their three daughters and attending all their busy activities. In his earlier years, he was involved as a 4-H leader.

Some of his leisure activities included playing games of chance at casinos, reading, playing cards with his friends and participating in long conversations with his neighbors. He adored his daughters and his grandchildren. He and his daughter, Ruth, raised miniature horses and found great joy in attending horse shows and their membership in a horse driving club with their friends.

He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Connie LaSure of Plattsmouth, Neb., Ruth Eberhard of Kingsley and Gayle (Dale) Jaacks of Kingsley; his sister, Clara (Delbert) Raby of Hinton, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jason (Elena) Jaacks, Karrie Jaacks, Kelli (Larry) Beach, Brock (Liz) LaSure and Brent (Kellee) LaSure; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
