SIOUX CITY - Theresa Jane Michaelsen, 84, of Sioux City died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Meinen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be l p.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.christysmith.com.

Theresa was born April 5, 1925, in Wakonda, S.D., to John and Rose (Hook) Kilbride. She was raised in Wakonda and graduated from Wakonda High School. She married Merlin "Mike" Michaelsen on Sept. 7, 1950. She lived in Sioux City for most of her adult life. She worked at Palmer Candy and Aalfs Manufacturing for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish.

Survivors include her brother, Gene of Vermillion, S.D.; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mike in 1997; two brothers, Edward and Francis; and three sisters, Dorothy, Lorraine and Mae.
