SIOUX CITY - Lillian Ann (Speero) Gicondy, 89, of Sioux City died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at her residence following a brief illness. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Lillian was born June 25, 1919, the daughter of Lambro and Elaine (Bozikis) Speero.

On May 11, 1947, she married Louis Gicondy in Sioux City. The couple owned and operated the coffee shop in the Benson Building, as well as the Fourth Street Cafe. Many Sioux City residents enjoyed the food and welcome atmosphere the couple established at their restaurants. Louis died April 14, 1974, in Sioux City.

She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and especially watching the Chicago Cubs on television. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

She is survived by her nieces, Elaine Schindler, Magdalene Topitzes and Sandy Kidd; and her nephews, Michael Scarmon, George Scarmon, Gregory Speero, Paul Speero and Risto Speero.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Gregory and Risto Speero; and sisters, Wanda Bovis and Beulah Scarmon.

Memorials may be made in her name to Hospice of Siouxland, 4300 Hamilton Blvd., Sioux City, IA. 51104.
