SIOUX CITY - William Herbert Savonell, formerly of Sioux City, died Dec. 30, 2008, in Okeechobee, Fla. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Episcopal Church, 707 Eighth Street, Boone, Iowa.

Mr. Savonell was born June 22, 1927, in Sioux City, the son of Charles and Florence Heath. At the age of two, he went to live with Carl and Florence Savonell. He attended schools in Sioux City. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

In August 1945, he married Elizabeth Eddy of Boone, Iowa. He worked as an auto mechanic in Boone for more than 30 years. He retired to Florida in 1990 with Elizabeth.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years; six children; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Jack Heath; and a son, Carl.
