Marge Canny

SIOUX CITY - Marjorie A. "Marge" Canny, 66, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital following a year long battle with cancer.

Services will be 7 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Revs. Merlin Schrad and Steven Bauer officiating. Private graveside services will be held in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Marge was born July 28, 1942, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Hazel (Gallespie) Deiters. After graduating from Ottumwa Heights Academy in 1960, she worked for Box and Box Law Offices in Ottumwa.

She married Harold J. Canny in 1961, in Ottumwa and moved to Sioux City later that year.

She had worked at Plum's Cooking Company at the Marketplace Mall. She was a member of the Siouxland Samplers Quilt Group.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Canny of Sioux City; a son, David Canny of Sioux City; three daughters, Diane Gray and her husband, John, of Sioux City, Jean Parrish and her husband, Jim, of Sioux City and Jennifer Canny of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Joe Canny and his wife, Stephanie, Jack Gray, Ryan and Jessica Parrish; her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Frank Bauer of Wheeling, Ill .; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Hazel Deiters; and a brother, Barnard Deiters.
