Jeanette was born Nov. 22, 1919, on a farm west of Hetland, S.D., the first of eight children born to the late John and Anna Kvinge. She graduated from Hetland High School in 1937. She then earned her teacher's diploma at General Beadle Teacher's College in Madison, S.D. She taught for a year in Farmer and Arlington, S.D., then returned to earn her bachelor of arts in education at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. She then taught at Longfellow Elementary School in Sioux Falls.

There she met Wesley Bugg, who was stationed at the U.S. Army Air Corps base. He swept her off her feet and they were married on July 22, 1945, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington. After several years in Chicago, where she taught at the Girls Latin School, they returned to Sioux Falls. In 1957, they moved to Brookings, S.D., where Wesley was the director of finance at South Dakota State University. For the past two years, they have lived in Sioux City with their son, Dave.

She was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church, where she was a faithful choir member, occasional organist, taught Sunday School, served in the church board and was the president of the ALCW. She served in several leadership positions for the Brookings chapter of the Son's of Norway. She also drove for Meals on Wheels and taught piano lessons for 20 years. Since Wes retirement, they have been snowbirds, spending winters in Lake Havasu City, Nev., and Sun City West, Ariz.

She is survived by her husband; two children, David Bugg of Sioux City and Janis Parks (Rev. Robert) of Birmingham, Ala.; granddaughters, Emily Bugg Willcox (Brandon), Julie Bugg Johnson (Nick), both of St. Paul, Minn., Elizabeth Ann Mullet (Brian) and Nicola Jeanette Parks, both of Birmingham; five of her siblings, John Kvinge (Kathryn), Rev. Stanley Kvinge (Goldie), both of Sun City West, Ariz., Doris Berg (Milton) of Sioux Falls, Dorothy Williams of Arlington, S.D., and Mary Ann Nelson of New Brighton, Minn.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Pankratz and Helen Lund; a niece, Debbie Nelson; and a nephew, Philip Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent online to Trinity Lutheran Church Mission Fund, Arlington, S.D., Hospice of Siouxland, Sioux City, Christian Medical Ministry, 400 Office Park Dr., Suite 210, Birmingham, AL. 35223 or the Charity of your choice.
