Kathryn Rebecca Brown was born May 29, 1920, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde and Katheryn (Berger) Brown. She soon became known to family and friends as Kate. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Hinton and was a lifelong member of the congregation. She attended elementary and high school in Hinton before continuing her education at Morningside College in Sioux City. She graduated from Morningside in 1942 with a degree in education.

On Nov. 23, 1943, she was united in marriage to Robert W. Bennett in Corvallis, Ore. The couple was blessed with four children, Robert, Betty, Byron and Clyde.

She was an avid golfer, who liked to add artistic flair to her favorite pastime by painting golf balls and markers. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending summers on West Lake Okoboji. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

A loving wife and devoted mother, her family was always her first priority. She treasured the time she spent with her husband and children, and when grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, they held a special place in her heart. Her kind and caring ways will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert (Jean) Bennett of Storm Lake, Iowa, Betty Baker of Tucson, Ariz., Byron (Kathy) Bennett of Mesa, Ariz., and Clyde (Judy) Bennett of Billings, Mont.; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; four great-step-grandchildren; extended family; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert W. Bennett: her sisters, Marjorie Reed and Lillian Josephson; and a brother, Ralph Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the United Methodist Church in Hinton or the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake.
