SIOUX CITY -- Al L. Hogancamp, 71, of Sioux City died Friday, March 13, 2009, at a local hospital.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Al was born on May 27, 1937, in Logan, Iowa, to Roy and Josephine (Hughes) Hogancamp. He grew up in the Onawa area and graduated from Onawa High School. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army but was medically discharged a short time later.

He married Patsy Nielsen on June 25, 1959, in Fort Riley, Kan. After their wedding, the couple moved to Sioux City. Al worked at Robb-Ross Foods for over 25 years. He then worked at Johnson Biscuit and then went to Farmland, where he was forced to retire because of a medical disability.

Al enjoyed gambling, working with his hands, doing yard work and home improvements.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Hogancamp; a son, Kevin Hogancamp and his fiancee, Ginny Miller; a daughter, Victoria Johnson; and a brother, Stanley Hill, all of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Rosie Kobold and June Hill.
