6 March 2009SIOUX CITY -- Jason W. Wanner, 26, of Hallandale, Fla., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, in Florida.
Private family services will be at a later date. Visitation with the family will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Jason was born Aug. 17, 1982, in Sioux City, the son of William R. and Valerie J. (Norton) Wanner. He attended Clark Elementary, Hoover Middle School and graduated from East High School in 2001.
After spending a year in California, he attended the University of Miami in Miami, Fla. He graduated with honors in May 2008. He was presently working as a day trader with the Foreign Currency Exchange and planned to attend medical school in the fall of 2009.
He loved music, pets and was passionate about computers. He researched anything and everything until he found the answers to his questions. He loved the warm beaches, year round colorful vegetation and the cultural diversity found in southern Florida.
He is survived by his parents, Bill and Val Wanner of Sioux City; a sister and brother, Natalie Wanner and Brian Wanner, both attending the University of Colorado in Boulder; his maternal grandfather, Bill Norton of Independence, Mo.; his paternal grandparents, John and Jewel Wanner of St. Louis, Mo.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dorothy Norton.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be directed to the Tourette Syndrome Association.
