SIOUX CITY -- Jean M. Harper, 97, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at a Cedar Falls hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Charles F. Bencken, interim rector of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jean was born April 22, 1911, in Yankton, S.D., to Adolf Otto and Etta Mae (Coney) Foerster. She lived most of her life in the Sioux City area. She graduated from Central High School and Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Neb.

Jean married Frank "Bill" Harper on Jan. 24, 1932. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jean (Fred) Hoffman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two granddaughters, Sheri Hoffman of Cedar Falls, and Laurie (Jeff) Thomas of Van Meter, Iowa; and two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Hoffman and Dillon Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and a sister.

Pallbearers will be George Beeson, Jeff Thomas, Dillon Thomas, John Foerster and Arland Harper.
