SIOUX CITY -- Dorothy Marie (Liljegren) Englund, 88, formerly of Orleans Avenue in Sioux City, went to meet her Lord on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. May 12 at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis.

Dorothy was born May 25, 1920, in Moline, Ill., the second of four children born to Arthur and Esther (Herngren) Liljegren. The family moved to Sioux City, where she was confirmed at First Covenant Church. She graduated from East High School. She studied bookkeeping and worked at Glaser's Provisions Co. She then studied at North Park Bible Institute in Chicago.

There she met seminary student Kenneth Englund, whom she married in 1948. The couple served numerous Covenant churches in the U.S. and Canada. They retired to Abbotsford, British Columbia in 1987 and lived there until Ken's passing in 2001. She relocated to Minnesota near her two sons.

She is survived by a daughter, Doreen (Gary) Corwin of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Eric of Arden Hills, Minn., and Mark (Jane) of Shoreview, Minn.; a brother, Herbert of Riverside, Calif.; a sister, Twyla (James) Lundell of Moline, Ill.; and five dear grandchildren, Tyler, Sean, Reid, Spencer and Alyssa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Paul in World War II; and her loving husband, Ken.

Memorial gifts may be made to Bethany Covenant Village of Minneapolis or the Alzheimer's Association.
