SIOUX CITY -- Betty J. Hobbs, 78, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at her residence.

There will be no visitation. Burial will be at a later date in Logan Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Betty Hobbs was born Jan. 4, 1931, in Ute, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Eunice (Lohmann) Goslar. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ute. After the death of her mother in 1942, she moved to Sioux City with her father. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She attended North Junior High School and graduated from Central High School in 1948.

She married Ray E. Hobbs in 1949 in Sioux City. Two children were born to this union a son, James, and a daughter, Lynn. Ray passed away in 2004.

Survivors include a son, James Hobbs of Sioux City; a daughter Lynn Muller of Hornick, Iowa; a grandson, Matt Muller; and a sister, Lois Boggs of Jackson Hole, Wyo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her parents; and a brother, Ralph Goslar of Ute.
