Obituaries:

Carrie E. Sweeney, 93, formerly of 1014 Pierce St., died Tuesday [Dec. 20, 1983] in Indian Hills Care Center after a short illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Cathedral of the Epiphany. The Rev. Patrick O’Kane will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday and the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. in Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Sweeney, the former Carrie E. Haag, was born Dec. 31, 1889, at Hospers, Iowa. She taught rural schools in the Hospers area for several years. She married John H. Sweeney Nov. 25, 1919, in Sioux City and they made their home here. He died Nov. 18, 1980, in Sioux City.

She was a member of the Cathedral of the Epiphany.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Dick (Marilyn) Wallen, Mrs. Kenneth (Norma) Traum, and Mrs. Bobbette Kaprelian, all of Sioux City; one brother, Gene Haag of Des Moines; 21 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
